Human learning has always had a focus on the environment, the sustainable development. We have been engaged in nature ever since we began interacting with our surroundings and thinking about the impacts, outcomes and consequences of our actions and interactions. Nowadays, we talk about the environment when we talk about sustainable development.

The challenges of sustainable development are multifaceted and complex. In the long run, addressing them requires a revolution in the training of future generations of learners to devise solutions for sustainability dilemmas in environments characterised by uncertainty, information deficits, and asymmetric power relationships.
